If you stumbled across this page then perhaps before you click away I'd like to share some of my personal experiences about internet marketing. I use the term 'internet marketing' in the very broadest of terms, to me it means a way of using the internet to generate some revenue and make an income.

Firstly and perhaps the most important think I have learnt in the last 5 years is that most of the schemes that are promoted out there are in fact 'get rich quick scams' and believe me these are highly organised and effective marketing operations targeting YOU and Your money. They know their business which is how to gain your interest, your trust, sign you up and if you pay some money continually market to you 'too good to be true' schemes until you are emotionally and financially ruined.

What I came across was different which was rather looking at individual schemes, was to understand the fundamentals of what generates an income and revenue from the internet.  In a nutshell and cutting out all the waffle, marketing schemes and all those scams it is about 'TRAFFIC' - and not just any traffic but targeted quality traffic that can generate an income.  Why does traffic matter, well basically it is one thing more than anything else that will determine your income.  There is more detail about types of traffic, origin and sources and traffic and how to generate traffic here Types of Traffic

How do you generate an income - well if you have grasped the principal that you need internet traffic and different types of traffic you will also appreciated something about Internet Domain Names. In essence a domain name is simply an internet address just like a real address.  But unless someone actually knows your address and is looking for your address how will they find you? and why indeed would anyone even bother looking for your address?

I'll discuss this later - but to go back to fundamentals consider the user, why on earth will they go to your site? some ideas are The User. If you now understand user behaviour you can understand why certain things work and other don't. This brings me neatly back to domain names and why they have value, in essence there several sorts - traffic names, generic memorable names and search engine optimised names, some names fit into more one category and their value rises accordingly Domain Names.

Now we need to consider site content - this matters because one prime sources of traffic as discussed previously here is Types of Traffic from search engines.  This relates back to user behaviour, without sounding crass if your sites ranks for search term in top 3 listing of google then your site should get ooddles of traffic.  I'll now explain further what I mean in more detail on other pages but if your in business then you know exactly what I'm on about as you will have received cold call after cold from Seo and directory listing companies offering to put you on the first page of Google - the question that know one ever asks immediately on the call is  'the first page of google for what?'  if you want to more about search engine derived traffic and how that relates to your site content, business name and domain name then take a look here Search Engine Traffic

Hopefully you haven't got a headache from all this - all I can do is give you a brief summary of some of the important things to look out for.  I'll be adding more content to this site gradually over the coming weeks and months so check back regularly and bookmark this page.  If you are looking to start out from scratch building an online only business or perhaps you have a real world business and looking to develop your internet presence then some of ideas and experiences I will share with you will certainly be of value.  If all free - why would I do that.  Well as I add further information to this site there will be some services you may to sign up for and yes I'll ask you to sign up via my affiliate link, you won't get them off the site directly but by registering later on when I'm ready to roll this out.
